Abbie La Rooy (b.1997, Sydney) is a ceramic artist producing unique objects whilst maintaining traditional ceramic techniques.
Abbie La Rooy is a ceramic artist, currently working in South West Scotland. Abbie graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2019 with a B.A. in Design. Her current body of work carries references of the anthropomorphic and caricature. Working with stoneware and earthenware, her practice is rooted in traditional making processes to produce unique outcomes; each object is thrown on the wheel, then pulled and altered whilst suspended upside down. The pieces are allowed to twist and warp during the drying and firing, giving each a distinct character.
