Kaori Jones

Bio

Kaori Jones intervenes in the cycle of decomposition and generation through the media of sculpture, installation and painting.

Life and death. Production and consumption. Waste and compost. Jones focuses on decomposition and generation in dynamic cycles that are all around us. Through repair, recycling and reconstruction, she represents human emotions and personal experiences. For her, to repair is not to hide but to embrace mistakes and accidents, bringing out the charm from blemished pieces. Jones' view is that damage and deterioration are opportunities to be reborn as something new. A major theme of her art is impermanence, highlighted by the mutability of her pieces. She emphasises this by reusing her previous works and leftover materials, rebelling against the excesses of our material world.
